- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Dig -- Very Worthwhile! : Having read almost all of Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holme’s stories, I thought I’d stray from Baker Street and read Rodney Stone. The novel’s setting, characters, and time frame vary from Doyle’s other works. The setting and characters split time between countryside working class folk and London’s salons and it’s pre-Victorian dandies. The story occurs in the very early 19th c, as Great Britain wages war with France. Doyle’s use of boxing to further weave the story is masterful. There were only black squares where the pictures were. It might well be due to the fact that I have had the kindle for about four years (v3 I think).
